SM Entertainment Declares War Against Sasaeng Fans After One Breaks Into NCT Haechan’s Home

The label vowed to protect its artists.

SM Entertainment revealed the severity of the harm suffered by NCT members due to sasaeng fans and warned it would be taking strict measures against them.

On March 6, SM Entertainment released a statement titled “We Are Advising In Regards To The Violation Of NCT’s Private Lives.” In the statement, the label revealed that NCT members were suffering due to sasaeng fans. Sasaeng fans allude to obsessive fans who stalk and invade the privacy of artists.

Recently, there has been an increase in serious incidents involving the violation of NCT members’ private lives, and thus we are releasing our stance regarding this.

NCT members are currently suffering terribly from acts that involve (fans) showing up to private locations and waiting for them, following their cars, excessive contact and filming during flights, illegally finding out their contact information and calling them excessively, and spreading malicious rumors.

The label then stated that in November of last year, a sasaeng fan had broken into the home of NCT member Haechan. The label revealed that the idol and his family are suffering mentally due to the incident.

Specifically, in November of last year, a sasaeng fan had broken into the home of Haechan. Haechan lives with his family, and therefore due to the incident, Haechan, as well as his family, is suffering mentally.

The sasaeng fan has been indicted by prosecutors, and the case has been resolved after Haechan had stated he didn’t want the fan to be prosecuted. However, we are revealing this incident to bring light to the severity of the problems with sasaeng and to warn fans in hopes of preventing something like this from happening ever again.

SM Entertainment then warned it would take legal action against sasaengs indiscriminately and would have a zero-tolerance policy towards them.

From now on, we will severly punish those who trespass, leak private information, and stalk, as well as those who commit other illegal acts. We will take all legal measures available to us and ask that (fans) do not take part in these actions.

Meanwhile, Haechan, who suffered at the hands of sasaeng fans, took a leave of absence due to his health in January. At the time, he went to the hospital due to symptoms, including chest palpitations and discomfort. It has been revealed that doctors had advised the idol that he needed treatment and rest.
