The NSFW Country Song That Has Taken Over K-Pop Fans’ FYPs
A NSFW country song is the latest trend among K-Pop fans on video-sharing app TikTok.
Has your FYP (For You Page) looked something like this recently? Male K-Pop idols dance while dressed in cowboy-inspired outfits with unfamiliar country music audio playing, and the singer begins to sing explicit lyrics.
The song in question is “Good Lookin'” by Dixon Dallas, who is actually the alter-ego of singer Jake Hill. It’s become a hit on TikTok, with the original video garnering 21.8M views at the time of writing. The audio has been used in over 37K posts.
Many of these posts are by K-Pop fans who have shared video clips from their favorite idol groups’ “Western eras” and replaced the audio with “Good Lookin’.” This includes BTS‘s “Permission to Dance,” TXT‘s “Blue Hour,” ATEEZ‘s “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS),” NCT 127‘s “Sticker,” and SEVENTEEN‘s “HOT.” These are just a few examples.
K-Pop idols have been rocking the cowboy fits a lot in the past couple of years, so naturally, fans thought of the popular TikTok audio. But the juxtaposition with Dixon Dallas’ NSFW country track “Good Lookin'” is low-key hilarious.
The “gay country song” gets comically explicit. Yet, Jake Hill told Pride that its inspiration comes from his personal growth.
Growing up in the south, you’re taught how to think a certain way. I reached a point where I started thinking for myself. My music is a big f*** you to my past.
