SBS And Netflix Announce Partnership To Bring Popular Korean Content To The World
International streaming service Netflix and Korean broadcasting company Netflix have teamed up.

On December 20, Netflix and SBS announced they had signed a “strategic partnership agreement.” The partnership was officially formed at a ceremony at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Mokdong, Seoul, with SBS President Baek Min Shin and Netflix Vice President of Korean Content Kang Dong Han among attendees.
The collaboration between SBS and Netflix marks a new milestone in introducing the excellence of Korean storytelling to the world. I hope that SBS’s innovative vision and Netflix’s passion for Korea will create a new golden age of K-content that will last for more than 100 years.
— Kang Dong Han
The ultimate goal is to make Korean entertainment more accessible worldwide. Baek believes this partnership is opportunistic for both SBS and Netflix, specifically in increasing viewer engagement.
This agreement is based on SBS’s future strategy to ‘go global beyond terrestrial TV’. Through this partnership with Netflix, viewers around the world will have greater access to K-content, contributing further to the global expansion of K-content.

SBS and Netflix’s partnership includes two main points:

- Provide Netflix subscribers in South Korea with new and existing SBS dramas, variety shows, and documentaries.
- Simultaneously, some of SBS’s new K-Drama will be released worldwide. Beginning next year, Netflix will feature popular SBS documentaries and variety shows, such as Running Man, Unanswered Questions, Story of the Day When You Bite Your Tail, Kick a Goal, Sandglass, Hot Stove League, and Penthouse.
Netflix and SBS will simultaneously collaborate to release classic K-content and new SBS K-Dramas internationally by the second half of 2025. Netflix will produce subtitles, dub in various languages, and promote the content.
This partnership aims to create strategic synergies that will benefit both parties. SBS seeks to expand the global reach of its content, while Netflix aims to enhance the value of its subscriptions and provide a variety of experiences to its members.

Netflix has already been the international distributor for some SBS K-Dramas that became hits worldwide, such as Business Proposal and Our Beloved Summer. So, this partnership should work well for both SBS and Netflix.
