Korea’s First Official Cybertruck Owner Revealed—And It’s Not G-Dragon
Who flew in a Tesla Cybertruck to become South Korea’s first official “registered owner?”

On December 26, 2024 (KST), Korean media outlets reported that Kim Junsu, of TVXQ and JYJ fame, is the one. According to Chosun Ilbo, a foreign car import business shared a post titled “License Plate Installation of A Tesla Cybertruck: The Very First Official Registration of The Cybertruck In Korea” on its Naver blog.

In this post, the business announced that it had imported the Tesla Cybertruck model and delivered it to the owner. In a previous blog post, the business explained the process of importing and getting the Cybertruck certified. Then, in the follow-up post shared on December 23, the business described how the vehicle and its license plates from the Korean vehicle registration office were received. The post included a picture of the Cybertruck with the said license plates mounted.
The business confirmed that the Cybertruck was handed off to its owner, Kim Junsu. Reportedly, it took the veteran idol four months to receive the vehicle; In fact, Kim Junsu even used air transportation to expedite the delivery. The business also clarified, “The post was published with consent from Kim Junsu and his management.”

Before Kim Junsu became the first official owner of a Cybertruck in Korea, BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon once went viral for showing up to an airport in one. It was noted that, at the time, the Cybertruck was not officially launched in Korea at the time and the vehicle that G-Dragon used was said to have had a temporary license plate.
