Actress’s Nightmare Plastic Surgery Nearly Made Her Nose Fall Off — Where Is She Now?

She wishes she had never gotten any procedures done.

In 2020, Chinese actress Gao Liu went under the knife for what was meant to be a micro-adjustment that added cartilage to the tip of her nose.

However, the plastic surgeon who performed the procedure was unlicensed, which is believed to be a contributing factor to what happened afterwards.

The tip of Gao Liu’s nose became infected and required various follow-up appointments, resulting in a patch of blackened, dead flesh on the tip of her nose. In addition to the dead flesh on the tip of her nose scabbing over and falling off multiple times, doctors also had to remove a piece of cartilage to save the remainder of her nose.

Recently, Gao Liu spoke up about her experience and gave an update on her current condition.

BBC News recently did a special on China’s plastic surgery boom, and interviewed many who received surgery with less than ideal results, including Gao Liu.

I’ve always cared so much about my appearance, I thought my whole life was ruined.

The special further investigated the clinic and the doctor who performed the surgery and found that, while it had closed, another was opened in the same place. The two clinics are believed to be the same, but they are just run under different names. It also found that the doctor only obtained the licensed plastic surgeon qualification in April 2024, even though he was technically barred from applying for the status for five years from the date he was sanctioned in 2021.

Gao Liu has since had two procedures to correct the damage, but her nose has remained crooked. She was connected to the surgeon through word of mouth, and warns against this.

Ultimately, Gao Liu shared that all of the procedures she had done were a waste of time, and wishes she had not gotten them done.

Hopefully, things continue to improve for Gao Liu and those looking to have work done do their due diligence in researching the clinic and doctors they approach.
