Top Tier Korean Star Becomes Victim Of Fraud — Scammer Impersonates His Manager

His agency released a statement.

Comedian Lee Soo Geun has become the latest victim of a scam involving impersonation, according to a statement released by his agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, on May 13.

The agency revealed that an individual has been falsely posing as Lee Soo Geun’s manager in an attempt to secure financial gain. The impersonator reportedly used a forged business card and claimed affiliation with the agency to carry out the scam. This tactic, known as a “celebrity impersonation no-show scam,” involves using a celebrity’s name to place fraudulent reservations, resulting in real financial losses for businesses.

Big Planet Made condemned the scam as a serious illegal act and announced it would take strict legal action, including both civil and criminal proceedings, against the perpetrator.

Hello,

This is Big Planet Made Entertainment.

Recently, a scam has occurred where someone is impersonating the manager of our artist, broadcaster Lee Soo Geun, to seek financial gain. We ask everyone to be especially cautious.

The impersonator is falsely claiming to be affiliated with our company and is using a forged business card. They have been caught attempting scams in the Ulsan area by reserving high-end wine (worth approximately ₩4.00 million KRW (about $2,820 USD)) at various restaurants.

This kind of activity, often referred to as a “celebrity impersonation no-show scam,” can cause serious damage to industry professionals. We urge all business owners and stakeholders to remain alert, as similar incidents may continue.

We are taking this issue very seriously and plan to respond with firm legal action.

Your tips and cooperation are invaluable. Please stay vigilant to help prevent further incidents.

Thank you.
