4.2 Billion Won Paycheck?— Jo Yuri Addresses “Squid Game” Rumors

She clarified the speculations about her appearance fee.

Former IZ*ONE member-turned-actress Jo Yuri recently addressed the rumors about her appearance fee for Squid Game.

Jo Yuri appeared in the second and third seasons of Squid Game, winning hearts across the globe with her portrayal of Kim Jun Hee. On July 12, KST, Yuri appeared as a guest on MBC‘s entertainment show Point of Omniscient Interfere and talked about how the show has changed her career trajectory.

During the episode, the MCs pointed out that Squid Game 3 ranked as the top Netflix show in 93 countries, and asked if the audience response translated into real-world parameters for Yuri. She answered, stating her Instagram followers had gone up from 1.68 million before the show to 7.61 million after it. She also added that her comment section has changed from being all Korean to including messages from international fans.

Yang Se Hyung then asked Yuri about her appearance fee, mentioning the rumors about her huge paycheck. The actress responded, stating that she came across an article reporting that her fee was ₩4.20 billion KRW (about $3.05 million USD).

Yuri also talked about sharing her finances with her mother. When the MCs asked if she gave her mother pocket money, she responded, revealing that she actually shared her bank account password with her mother. As the MCs exclaimed that it was way more than just pocket money, she added, “But my mother hardly ever uses the money.”
