Age gaps between lead couples in dramas isn’t something new, and can cause major controversy depending on the ages.
An upcoming Chinese drama that has sparked fury for the age gap of the main couple is Que Ge.
The show follows Xiao Wuyi, the ruthless general, and Xie Jiayu, the money-obsessed, crafty daughter of the Grand Tutor, who are forced into a marriage. The male lead is Hou Minghao (also known as Neo Hou)…
And the female lead is Ai Mi.
Photos of the two together to promote the drama have already been shared, showcasing the chemistry between the characters.
Yet, the casting sparked fury when a clip of the booting ceremony, which kicks off filming, was shared. Netizens shared their anger after realizing the age gap, with Minghao being 27, soon to be 28, and Ai Mi only 17, which still makes her a minor.
