JYP Entertainment Addresses Staff’s Mishandling Of Fans’ Personal Information At Recent Event

Fans were denied entry.

JYP Entertainment has come under fire following widespread complaints from fans who were denied entry to the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING <PIER 10: All My Days> due to what many are calling overly strict and invasive ID checks.

Multiple fans took to social media to share their experiences, stating they were refused entry even after presenting valid forms of identification. In some cases, attendees brought supporting documents like family registers and even sought help from police officers on-site, only to still be turned away.

One particularly alarming report came from a fan who claimed that her ID was photographed and the image was shared in a group chat with all security staff — a serious breach of personal data privacy that sparked immediate backlash.

Following the uproar, JYP Entertainment issued an official apology on July 22, acknowledging the excessive and inappropriate handling of personal information. The company confirmed that the entrance process had been outsourced to a third-party operator, and during this process, unnecessary personal data was collected and shared without consent.

“Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.

First and foremost, we sincerely bow our heads in apology to the audience members who experienced inconvenience and distress due to the identity verification process at the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING <PIER 10: All My Days> event.

We have confirmed that there were excessive requests and collection of personal information during the event. In the process of entrusting entrance management to an outside agency, there were instances where unnecessary personal information was additionally requested, or audience members’ personal data was collected and shared to verify documents, causing significant discomfort.”

JYP stated that the original purpose of the ID verification was to prevent illegal ticket scalping and ensure that actual fans could attend. However, they admitted to mishandling the situation and failing to respond with flexibility and proper oversight. The company has vowed to take full responsibility and promised refunds to fans who were unfairly denied entry. Details about the refund process will be provided in a follow-up notice.

“The identity verification process was originally intended to protect fans by distinguishing between actual attendees and those who obtained tickets through illegal or dishonest means. However, in this case, we failed to respond appropriately and manage the situation responsibly. We take full responsibility for the incident and will thoroughly manage future events to ensure no unfair collection of personal data or invasion of privacy occurs.

Additionally, we are verifying the facts with the outsourced agency and promise to offer ticket refunds and compensation to those who were unable to enter the event due to the excessive identity verification process. Further details regarding the compensation process will be announced soon.

Once again, we sincerely apologize for the emotional distress caused to our fans. We will do our utmost to ensure the remaining fan meeting dates are enjoyable for all.”

JYP concluded their statement with a sincere apology, pledging to better manage personal data and ensure the remaining fan meeting events are enjoyable and respectful to all fans.
