Popular Actor Will Lam Diagnosed With Stage Four Lung Cancer

Beloved Hong Kong actor Will Lam, 33, stunned fans this week after disclosing that he has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

In an emotional Instagram post shared on July 30, 2025, Will recounted the journey leading up to his diagnosis. It began in late May, when a lingering cough refused to go away despite two rounds of antibiotics. After being referred to a lung specialist, a CT scan revealed abnormalities, prompting further tests.

When his doctor appeared visibly serious during a follow-up, Will nervously joked, “Is it cancer?” That offhand comment soon turned into a devastating reality.

The Drifting and Weeds on Fire actor admitted he was in disbelief and even questioned whether it could be tuberculosis instead. Now undergoing targeted therapy, Will said he is uncertain how his body will respond to treatment. For the time being, he is stepping back from his acting projects to focus on his health.

Will has withdrawn from the upcoming Banana Playhouse stage production and halted promotional appearances for his upcoming film Electrify. A new release date has not yet been confirmed. Though young, Will has already earned critical acclaim, with Best Supporting Actor nominations at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards for his performance in Drifting.
