Popular TV Star Publicly Shames Producer Ex-Husband For Chasing Her Money And Then Leaving Her In Debt
Voice actress-turned-TV personality Seo Yu Ri has taken to Instagram to shame her ex-husband, producer Choi Byung Gil, over financial issues that arose after their divorce in 2024.
Seo Yu Ri’s post came shortly after the producer first mentioned her in his recent social media post, claiming that she contributed to his debt and ongoing financial struggle.
I’d like to correct some of the misunderstandings circulating about me. The debt I owe Seo Yuri wasn’t for personal use—it was invested in our joint business, ‘Rona Universe,’ in which we both held a 50-50 stake. Even though we shared equal ownership, I ended up bearing all of the business-related debt. As a result, I had to sell my property in Yeouido at a loss, and the house in Yongsan has been put up for auction.
I’m making every effort to repay the debt owed to Seo Yu Ri, and I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not misuse her money for personal reasons. This is the first time I’m speaking out to clarify the situation.

In response, Seo Yu Ri posted an Instagram Stories update on August 2, 2025 (KST), suggesting that the “financial issues” in question existed from the early stages of their relationship.
I should’ve just ended things when he asked me to lend him ₩35.0 million KRW (about $25,200 USD) as soon as we started dating. That must’ve been a sign from my ancestors.

Seo Yu Ri and Choi Byung Gil got married in 2019 without a ceremony. As of March 2024, news of their separation emerged—and by June, their divorce was confirmed to have been finalized.
Following the divorce, Seo Yu Ri revealed that she was left with a massive ₩2.00 billion KRW (about $1.44 million USD) debt, which she was working on paying off. In revealing the financial dispute, Choi Byung Gil began refuting Seo Yu Ri’s claims about who was responsible for the debt. The actress has since warned her ex-husband that she has “decisive evidence” to reveal to the public—making it obvious that their messy conflict is far from over.
