Recently, the label released an official statement announcing that there will be no more face-to-face artist greetings in front of their company building. The decision came in response to the complaints from local residents about disturbances and discomfort due to massive crowding.

For years, the YG building in Hapjeong, Seoul, has been a go-to spot for fans to get a glimpse of their favorite idols. Through both spontaneous sightings and scheduled events, it became a treasured tradition of YG artists and fans to have face-to-face greetings at this place. Artists such as BLACKPINKAKMU, WINNERBABYMONSTER, and TREASURE have all participated in these experiences and strengthened their ties with fans.

However, YG Entertainment has been forced to end this tradition as the local residents are facing increased disturbances. In its statement, however, the company didn’t specify any single incident that might have led to this decision.

The announcement has sparked divided reactions from fans. On the one hand, people are pleased that the artists will not have their private space violated by a crowd of fans. On the other hand, many are bummed that this sacred tradition had to be scrapped because of a few fans who didn’t respect the boundaries of such in-person interactions.
