Popular Actor Dragged His Fan Meeting On For So Long His Fans Fell Asleep

A beloved actor recently went viral for stretching his fanmeeting almost thrice its original duration, with people jokingly calling it a fan kidnapping situation.

The actor in question is none other than Kim Nam Gil.

On August 8, KST, the actor appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM‘s Lee Eun Ji’s Gayo Plaza and talked about his Road to Gil fanmeeting in Seoul that he held this March. The event became a hot topic after it was revealed that it lasted from 5 pm to 11 pm— a whopping 5 hours and 10 minutes, instead of the originally scheduled 100-minute run.

When host Lee Eun Ji brought up the event, Kim Nam Gil quickly clarified that he wasn’t just talking to fans for those five hours straight, contrary to what most people assumed. He explained that the event was full of fun segments, including games, songs, one-on-one interactions, and more. “Some think I just rambled on and led the whole thing, but that’s not true,” Kim said, trying to clear his name.

However, the actor also shared some anecdotes from the event, which really highlighted the hilarity of a five-hour fan meeting. He recalled while laughing, “Some people would smile when our eyes met, but when I turned my head, I’d see them dozing off.” He added that the younger fans were straight-up napping in their seats, but he went on with the whole event for the “one or two people” who were with him till the end.

Despite this absurd experience, Kim Nam Gil expressed his wish to hold another long-running fanmeeting in the future. “Next time, I’m thinking we’ll start earlier, have a meal, and wrap up earlier as well,” he teased, adding, “But come prepared. We’ll be eating together, too.”

Lee Eun Ji then jokingly suggested that he should arrange for a retreat instead, but the actor ended up considering it seriously.

Kim Nam Gil concluded his story, revealing that his peers were not too happy about his hilariously long fanmeetings. “Other actors tell me, ‘Because of you, we can’t end our fanmeetings in just one or two hours anymore,'” he shared. But in the end, Kim mentioned that his fan events go on longer than usual because he always wants to make the most of the rare opportunities he gets to meet his fans face-to-face.
