Popular Singer Blackmailed By Lawyer With Illegal Sexual Footage

According to the latest reports, the lawyer of a popular singer has been sentenced to prison for blackmailing his client using illegally captured sexual footage.

The singer in question, referred to as “A,” made his debut by winning a music competition. He has also composed numerous hit songs and worked with well-known singers and actors. However, in 2021, he was convicted of illegally filming his sexual encounters with a woman. He received a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

In 2020, A had entrusted a hard drive full of these secretly filmed illegal videos to another person, “C,” to dispose of them all. However, C kept some of the footage and handed it over to a lawyer, “B.” Between March to April of 2024, B and C reportedly blackmailed A repeatedly, 15 times in total, asking for money in exchange for keeping the recordings secret. The two threatened to leak the materials to the media and YouTubers in the case of payment failure.

A took both of them to court, where they were recently sentenced to prison. The Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 29 ordered a two-year and six-month prison sentence for lawyer B for the crime of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. C was also sentenced to two years in prison.

Both defendants have also been ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.
