Upcoming K-Drama Filming Crew Slammed With Fierce Backlash
The filming crew for the Disney+ original drama, Delusion, has sparked controversy after allegedly dumping a large amount of trash in a forest on Jeju Island after filming.

The post quickly spread online, receiving backlash from netizens. Some also pointed out the filming crew’s recurring irresponsible behavior.
When controversy erupts, one team apologizes, but another team does the same thing—and it just keeps happening. Sanctions are needed to fix this.

There was also criticism that the production team lacked consideration for the local environment, especially since the director was also from Jeju Island.
What is up with poor management while filming in such a beautiful forest in Jeju? Shouldn’t filming in Jeju require even more care?

After confirming with the filming team regarding the post, the production company Showbox issued an official apology to iMBC Entertainment.
We weren’t able to thoroughly clean up the set when filming ended late, and it was dark. Recognizing the situation, we apologized and sought understanding from the set and related organizations. We immediately cleaned up the trash. Currently, everything has been cleaned up. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by our inability to clean properly after filming. We will be more thorough and cautious in the future.

However, this incident could escalate beyond simple criticism into a legal issue. Article 8 of the current Waste Management Act states that dumping household waste without a permit can result in a fine of up to 1,000,000 KRW ($~720.63 USD).
In particular, there are concerns that hazardous materials such as butane gas can lead to safety accidents and thus violate the Hazardous Materials Safety Management Act.
However, netizens felt that an apology wasn’t enough and that they needed to be punished.

- “Crazy, this isn’t something you can just end after apologizing.”
- “Crazy people…all the dramas are like this.”
- “Do you think an apology is enough? They should be fined and punished.”
- “Do you think filming makes you special?”
- “That explanation makes absolutely no sense.”
- “They don’t even understand the basics…those punks.”
- “They can do it, yet they’re making up excuses that don’t make sense.”
