Lee Min Jung Reveals Lee Byung Hun Broke Up With Her Once

Actress Lee Min Jung recently opened up about her relationship with husband Lee Byung Hun, revealing just how close they once came to breaking up.

She shared that they first started dating right before her breakout drama Boys Over Flowers took off. After about a year together, Lee Byung Hun had to go overseas for an extended period, and that’s when cracks appeared.

“From his point of view, maybe he thought, ‘She’s just starting her career, should I really hold her back?’ So he told me, ‘Since I’m going abroad, let’s say goodbye.’ At that moment, I thought, ‘How dare you?’ I felt the whole ‘one year abroad’ thing was just an excuse. To me, if someone insists on breaking up, it simply means they don’t love you, so I cut it off immediately.”

Even after their breakup, Lee Byung Hun tried to reach out, but she wasn’t having it.

“He would call me at strange hours because of the time difference, but I wouldn’t pick up. I’d turn off my phone, and the next day I’d text, ‘Sorry, I was asleep,’ or just ignore him completely. I left him on read.”

The two eventually ran into each other at major award shows like the Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Awards, where Lee Min Jung was nominated for her role in Cyrano Dating Agency.

“He gave me a small greeting with his eyes, but I ignored him. Later, we began dating again, and that’s how we ended up married.”

What once felt like a final breakup eventually turned into a love story that led to marriage in 2013. Today, Lee Min Jung and Lee Byung Hun are considered one of Korea’s most high-profile celebrity couples, proving that sometimes love really does come full circle.
