Virtual Idol Group Sparks Controversy Ahead Of Upcoming Concert

Fans had differing views.

Ahead of virtual idol group PLAVE’s encore concert, fans have expressed concern about ticket pricing and the concert setlist.

PLAVE will hold the 2025 PLAVE Asia Tour [DASH: Quantum Leap] Encore at Gocheok Sky Dome on November 21 and 22. The agency recently released ticket sales information on Weverse.

The concert tickets were priced at a flat 154,000 KRW ($~111.06 USD) for all seats. This differed from most concerts, which have different pricing depending on distance from the stage and visibility.

While many fans were divided on the pricing, some supported the policy, stating, “since the audience at a virtual idol concert is ultimately watching the screen, it’s reasonable not to differentiate prices by seat.”

However, others argued, “The fourth floor seats are quite far from the screen, which makes a difference in the quality of the viewing experience.”

Aside from the ticket price controversy, the setlist also became a hot issue, as many pointed out that it featured significantly fewer songs than those of other artists.

Some criticized the setlist, stating, “The number of songs for the concert is too small for a ticket price exceeding 150,000 KRW.” In contrast, others argued, “PLAVE has only released a limited number of songs, so it’s inevitable.”

Meanwhile, as the virtual artist industry is still beginning, trial and error in performance formats and pricing seems inevitable.
