Beloved YouTuber Pilseungjoo Passes Away At 32

YouTube creator Pilseungjoo has passed away.

On September 26, KST, the YouTuber’s family shared the news of her demise through her social media channels. Pilseungjoo was a creator with over 70,000 subscribers and became widely known for documenting her journey with ALS since 2022.

Pilseungjoo continued documenting her journey despite her gradual paralysis with her trademark humor and optimism. She was beloved by her audience, many of whom are fighting the same disease and found hope and strength in her. Her final video, “Apple Juice Is Just An Excuse,” uploaded on May 4, KST, was reportedly created by a close friend.

ALS, officially known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a degenerative neurological disease where motor neurons are selectively destroyed, leading to weakened muscles and muscle atrophy. The condition became widely known after the famous American baseball player Lou Gehrig was diagnosed with it, which is why it is commonly referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s disease.” The exact cause of ALS remains unknown, and there is currently no definitive cure. In South Korea, former basketball player Park Seung Il, co-chair of the Seungil Hope Foundation, also passed away from ALS.

After the news of Pilseungjoo’s passing was shared with the public, condolences started pouring in through social media. Her funeral was held at the Hanil Hospital Funeral Hall, with the funeral procession taking place on September 27, at 8:30 am KST. She will be laid to rest at Jinju City’s Anrak Park Cemetery.
