Actress Kim Hee Sun has experienced a family tragedy. According to an exclusive report by MyDaily on October 2, 2025, Kim Hee Sun’s mother, Park Bok Soon, passed away earlier that day at the age of 86.
Kim Hee Sun is said to be staying at the funeral hall with her family in deep sorrow. An industry insider shared that the two were extremely close.
“For Kim Hee Sun, who is an only child, her mother was more than a parent — she was like a friend and soulmate. The reason she was able to continue her long career in the entertainment industry without rest was because of her mother. She is now preparing for her mother’s final farewell in immense grief.”
The mortuary has been set up in Room 30 of the funeral hall at Asan Medical Center in Seoul. Kim Hee Sun and her husband, Park Joo Young, are listed as chief mourners. The funeral will be held on the morning of October 4 at 4.40 am., and the burial site will be Seoul Memorial Park.
Kim Hee Sun debuted as a commercial model in 1993 and went on to become one of South Korea’s leading actresses, starring in dramas such as Dinosaur Teacher, The Tale of Chunhyang, Men of the Bath House, Propose, Three Men Three Women, Sunflower, and Virtue. In 2007, she married businessman Park Joo Young, and in 2009, she gave birth to their daughter Park Yeon Ah. She has continued to maintain her presence in the industry through works like The Lady in Dignity, Alice, and Tomorrow.
