Was his removal from the group forced or inevitable?

The company stated that many parts of Sunghoon’s claims were not true, explaining that the former member struggled with “psychological difficulties and emotional instability,” which ended up creating problems like him getting aggressive with the fellow members and their families.

“Hello, this is Long Play Music, the agency of Brown Eyed Soul.

We would like to inform you that several parts of the content recently posted by former member Sunghoon on his personal social media account are not true.

We understand that during the COVID-19 period, and due to one member’s health issues, the group experienced a long hiatus. During that time, Sunghoon reportedly went through psychological difficulties and emotional instability, for which he received professional counseling and treatment. Throughout this process, he engaged in inappropriate behavior, including sending personally offensive messages to other members and their families. The company, out of concern, repeatedly advised him to focus on treatment and rest.”

The company went on to say that, despite such circumstances, they had supported Sunghoon’s personal activities, including his solo album and YouTube channel, but added, “As the situation did not improve even after a year, it was ultimately decided—after discussion with Sunghoon—to terminate his exclusive contract and for him to leave the team.”

“Nevertheless, respecting Sunghoon’s desire to continue his musical activities and supporting his recovery, the company did its best to assist him—actively supporting his solo album production, YouTube content creation, and other personal projects. However, as the situation did not improve even after a year, it was determined that continuing under these circumstances would be difficult. After mutual discussion, it was decided to terminate his exclusive contract, and Sunghoon officially left the team.

Originally, we had decided not to release any public statement or respond to the media regarding this matter. However, as misinformation has begun to spread and cause unnecessary misunderstandings, we felt compelled to issue this official clarification.”

Long Play Music wished “for Sunghoon’s stability and well-being” but firmly stated that, “if the spread of false information damages the reputation of the company or its artists, we will take strong measures, including legal action.”

To the official statement, Sunghoon, too, assured that he will continue to fight until truth prevails:

“Yes, Long Play. I’ve read your statement carefully.

You said I personally attacked certain members and their families? Please post exactly what kind of personal attacks you’re referring to. Don’t edit anything. I’ve endured all kinds of things for 20 years. You said family? Are they the only ones who have families? Is my family any less important than theirs? If this is how you want to handle things, I, too, will take any and all legal action necessary.

You stopped me from doing YouTube, didn’t you? You told June, who was in charge of my arrangement, not to work with me, didn’t you?

I also look forward to and respect Brown Eyed Soul’s future performances and music, but after 20 years of hardship together, you’re now dismissing me as if I’m just mentally ill. I will fight to the end to protect my honor. And I, too, will only speak based on accurate facts from now on.”
