“KPop Demon Hunters” Director Responds To Demands For Live Action Movie
Director Maggie Kang recently spoke about whether or not she believes “KPop Demon Hunters” should receive a live action movie.

Previously, fake AI-generated leaks of a live action movie have circulated the internet and left viewers momentarily convinced.
However, Maggie Kang put the rumors to rest. She shared the there are many aspects of the movie that make it a much better fit for an animated format rather than live action. Because of this, she can’t see a live action version of the film working.
There’s so many elements of the tone and the comedy that are so suited for animation. It’s really hard to imagine these characters in a live-action world. It would feel too grounded. So totally it wouldn’t work for me.
— Maggie Kang
Co-Director Chris Appelhans also agreed that the limitless aspect of animation is well-suited for the world of K-Pop Demon Hunters and its characters.
One of the great things about animation is that you make these composites of impossibly great attributes. Rumi can be this goofy comedian and then singing and doing a spinning back-kick a second later and then free-falling through the sky.
— Chris Appelhans
Netizens completely agreed with the directors decisions and praised their sense.
- “You made the right decision.”
- “Thank you.”
- “Well said.”
- “As expected from someone who knows what’s up — just use that money to make even more instead.”
- *Thumbs up*
- “I love this.”
- “Great idea.”
