According to the report, in January 1994, the Seoul Bangbae Police Station had requested arrest warrants for three high school students on charges of special theft, robbery, and rape. These students allegedly used a stolen luxury car to lure girls who were returning home late at night, sexually assaulted them, and stole their money and belongings.

The police investigation found that the students had lured two girls who were waiting for a taxi in Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 11:30 pm and offered them a ride home. They then drove them to a vacant lot near the Saemaul Training Center in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, where they took turns sexually assaulting them. They then stole around 600,000. Between November 1993 and January 1994, the three students were suspected of committing the same crimes four times, having sexually assaulted multiple teenage girls and stolen goods worth at least 1 million.

As per police reports, the students stole luxury cars parked with their engines running near entertainment districts, committed the crimes, and then abandoned the vehicles.

The description of the crimes in the 1994 article resembled the crimes reported by Dispatch in its new article very closely, prompting Korean netizens to recognize that one of the students in the article was indeed Jo Jin Woong. With the old article resurfaced, the outrage against the actor has exploded on social media.

“The average monthly salary for a college graduate in 1994 was around 850,000 won.

Considering the damage inflicted on one’s mind, body, and soul, as well as the amount of money taken (in terms of its value at the time), one can infer that it’s no different from organized crime.”

“I hate that the label ‘third‑rate college’ follows you for life, while the same country that tells you to study is ridiculously lenient toward rapists.
All those supposedly brilliant intellectuals get together and still create a society where they can’t even get rid of a single rapist.
If someone commits rape, they should just be killed.
Even the standards for acknowledging the charges are ridiculously strict, so if someone manages to get through all that and it’s concluded that they really did rape, then they should just be killed!”
