SHINee’s Minho Speaks Out On How SM Entertainment Controlled His Behavior
SHINee’s Minho candidly revealed the honest feelings he experienced due to the “mysterious” concept during his debut.
On the 19th, Minho appeared in a video of ZIP DAESUNG, a web variety show hosted by BIGBANG‘s Daesung. Daesung visited SM Entertainment with the production team and had various conversations with artists from the agency.
In the video, Daesung asked Minho, “You weren’t really the talkative type at the beginning, right?” Minho hesitated for a moment before confessing, “The company told me not to talk,” drawing attention.
When Daesung asked why, Minho explained, “At the time, there was a mysterious concept, and they told me to say as little as possible.” He added with a laugh, “But I also had things I wanted to say.”
Minho continued, “Once, I went on the radio, and it almost turned into a broadcast accident. I wanted to speak, but since the company told me not to, I ended up looking foolish. I was in high school then, and my desire to do what I was told properly conflicted with wanting to speak. Honestly, the mysterious concept was tough.”
Daesung empathized and recalled, “They told us not to wander outside the waiting room either. When using the shared waiting room, they just told us to stay in the car.”
Minho reflected on BIGBANG’s strategy at the time, saying, “In the end, I think that strategy worked.” He laughed and said, “I was so curious about the hyungs. At a young age, I listened to their music wondering ‘What kind of people are they?’ but we only had three seconds to see them.”
