Despite being one of the biggest K-Pop conglomerates, HYBE has a mixed reputation among fans as a company. Its recent controversies, including the rift with NJZ (NewJeans) and founder Bang Si Hyuk’s alleged insider trading, have only worsened its reputation.

However, in recent weeks, netizens have discovered an interesting perk enjoyed by HYBE employees that has drawn overwhelmingly positive responses. The perk in question? Fresh bungeoppang.
For the uninitiated, bungeoppang is a beloved Korean fish-shaped pastry that traditionally comes with a red bean filling. It’s mostly a Winter street food that enjoys popularity wider than even the top-most K-Pop groups in Korea.
So, when a viral post on Theqoo compiled a list of HYBE idols bragging about how good the HYBE cafeteria bungeoppang was, the internet went wild. From TWS to LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT, HYBE groups can’t seem to hide how much they love the free bungeoppang in the in-house cafeteria.
TWS’s Dohoon: In our company, we have matcha bungeoppang, sweet potato bungeoppang, and apple cinnamon bungeoppang. It’s not for sale, it’s free.

According to a photo posted by one of the HYBE idols, the bungeoppang available in HYBE’s cafeteria is not outsourced but made fresh, in-house. The company seemingly bought an actual machine to make the pastries to treat their employees to the best quality.
The pull of a freshly-baked bungeoppang appears to have completely turned people’s opinion about working at the conglomerate.
