On December 26, 2025 (KST), the South Korean Supreme Court’s First Division dismissed the final appeals submitted by former NCT member-turned-criminal Taeil and his two accomplices.

Earlier, Taeil had appealed his three-year and six-month sentence. Now that the Supreme Court has rejected the disgraced idol’s final appeal, Taeil will serve 3 years and 6 months in prison for aggravated rape as originally sentenced.
In June of last year, Taeil, along with acquaintances Lee and Hong, met a foreign national at a club in Itaewon. The three men allegedly sexually assaulted this foreign national while she was intoxicated and unable to resist. DNA from all three defendants was later found on the victim’s body.
In July, the first trial court sentenced Taeil and his accomplices to 3 years and 6 months in prison and ordered their immediate detention. The appellate court upheld the original ruling, also requiring 40 hours of sexual violence treatment and a five-year ban on employment in organizations related to children, youth, or people with disabilities.
Taeil contested the second-instance verdict, but the ruling remained unchanged. In his final statement, he said, “I admit to all of my crimes and deeply reflect on them. While I cannot heal the victim’s wounds, I sincerely apologize.”
