Girl Group Star Shocks Idols With Her Marriage, Motherhood Reveal
A former girl group member has dropped two major life updates at once; she is now a married mother!

Miyazato Rira is a former founding member of the J-Pop girl group MainTitle and a former member of AKB48, one of Japan’s most popular idol groups. She joined AKB48 in 2014 and left seven years later, in 2021.
After leaving her first group, she re-debuted as a MainTitle member in 2023, then left that group a year later, in March of 2024.
Now, in 2026, Rira is embarking on a new professional and personal journey. On December 31, the 23-year-old star revealed that she had married a non-celebrity man three years her senior. The couple met through a mutual acquaintance in 2021, after Rira left AKB48. They got married in 2025 after finding out that Rira was pregnant, and she gave birth to their son last June.
This news came as a shock to fans, given that Rira kept her pregnancy and relationship private. She was careful never to reveal her baby bump in the photos she posted on social media. On X (Twitter), fans expressed their surprise and support, congratulating Rira.

Rira’s fans weren’t the only ones taken by surprise. Rira didn’t officially tell her former AKB48 group-mates about her pregnancy until six months after her son was born, at AKB48’s 20th anniversary event in December. In her January 1 interview with Nikkan Sports, Rira said that her ex-members were shocked and didn’t believe her until she showed them photos as proof. Some of them couldn’t wrap their minds around the fact that their “baby” now has a baby of her own.
Rira, who began her idol career at just 12 years old, isn’t planning to step away from the entertainment industry anytime soon. In her interview, Rira revealed that she has founded her own agency and will be debuting a self-produced girl group, Larmestone, on January 28.
All in all, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Rira and her fans!
