“A truly wonderful person,” she noted.

In a lengthy Instagram post, refuting distorted claims made by the Korean press, actress Kang Sung Yeon (also known as Kang Sung Yeoun) revealed that she is now in a relationship.

The post, shared on January 12, 2026 (KST), showed a screenshot of a news article stating that Kang Sung Yeon’s “decision to relocate was made in order to protect the child’s safety and emotional well-being, even if it meant leaving a place [they] had grown attached to.” To that, she argued, “This is not true.”

No, this is not true. I had been considering moving for a long time, and after deep discussions with my family, we made this decision with great difficulty. Gwanggyo and the schools my children attended are not only safe, but truly beautiful and wonderful places to live. I’m already deeply saddened and heartbroken about having to move farther away from a school we’d grown attached to and from my children’s beloved friends. On top of that, because of repeatedly incorrect articles, my children and I are now preparing for this move with heavy hearts, while also having to explain ourselves due to misunderstandings we never wanted.

She continued to explain that while the incident involving her son, which made headlines in November 2025, left her devastated, it was the labels like “divorced single mom” that cut deeper.

The incident in which my child was injured two months ago was not the result of playful roughhousing among friends. It was one-sided harm inflicted upon my child. Through the teacher and my child, I did receive an apology from the other child. However, my feelings remained unresolved because of the phone call I had with the other child’s guardian, during which no genuine sincerity was conveyed. I never imagined that expressing my hurt feelings and anger at the time would continue to be turned into articles for so long, or be so severely distorted.

I want to prevent my Instagram, where I place great meaning in sharing small, everyday moments with my family and my parenting journey, from being pieced together according to others’ assumptions under labels like  ‘divorced, single mom,’ and then reported as if those narratives were factual.

Then, Kang Sung Yeon added that while she is, indeed, divorced, she isn’t single. The actress hinted at her relationship by mentioning that her new partner is a “good person who cherishes and loves [her] children even more than [she does].”

And as for me, I am doing very well. Happy and at peace. Because of distorted articles, I’ve been portrayed as an extremely lonely and isolated single mother. But raising children isn’t easy for anyone. Why would that be true only for single moms? Like so many mothers raising young children, I am physically exhausted at times, but seeing my kids grow up bright and healthy gives me a renewed sense of strength.

And I’m also doing well, thanks to meeting a truly wonderful person who cherishes and loves my children even more than I do, so you can now put your excessive worries to rest!

Today, the snow was falling in a beautiful way. As I watched it fall, I found the courage to jot down these honest feelings that I’ve been carrying for so long, though I spent so much time writing and deleting over and over again. Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post.
