Fan-Favorite “Rom-Com Queen” Actress Sees Her New K-Drama Falter Amid Scathing Reviews
Between mega-hit K-Dramas, 2019’s Extraordinary You and 2024’s Lovely Runner, actress Kim Hye Yoon rose to stardom as the next generation “Rom-Com Queen.” But her 2026 SBS No Tail To Tell is turning out to be a miss.

The weekend K-Drama is only two episodes in, but its ratings have already dropped compared to its premiere. On January 17, 2026, Episode 2—in which Kim Hye Yoon’s character, Eun Ho, reveals her true identity as a nine-tailed fox to her co-star Lomon‘s character, Kang Si Yeol—recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 2.7%, according to Nielsen Korea. This is a whole percentage drop from the first episode, which recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 3.7%
That said, K-Drama fans believe there are numerous issues with No Tail To Tell, making it struggle despite airing on one of Korea’s three main channels and during “prime time” for K-Dramas. For example, a scene in Episode 2, showing Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon using super speed to zoom through Seoul, received scathing reviews for the botched CGI.

The CG quality in No Tail To Tell looks so low-budget, like it’s so stupid I’m honestly speechless.

Additionally, viewers didn’t see any chemistry between the two leads, thought the acting and directing were both subpar, and simply weren’t convinced by Kim Hye Yoon’s take on a gumiho.

- It’s understandable why the ratings are dropping. The female lead doesn’t suit the gumiho character at all, and her acting isn’t good.
- It’s the acting…
- Even if the leads give their best… This directing just isn’t it.
- I already saw Shin Min Ah‘s version of a gumiho, so this doesn’t draw me in at all.
- Putting everything else aside, you can tell just from the poster that the two have zero chemistry.
- I briefly saw clips on Twitter, and Hye Yoon’s acting felt exactly the same as in her other works, which was a bit disappointing.
- The acting, though.
- It’s way too childish, and the acting tone is bad.
- I know Hye Yoon can act well, but it feels like she picked the wrong tone here. She needs to dial it back at times, but everything sounds the same.
- The writing, directing, and acting are all bad across the board—and the CG is terrible too.

- It feels like they deliberately went with this kind of concept, and it should be funny, but it’s not funny at all LOL.
- Is the directing and the script like a children’s drama again? With lines like that and that kind of acting, it just looks even worse. They hyped it up so much, said it was pre-produced and had plenty of time. So what exactly did they work on?
- Um…
- Even the pre-broadcast teasers were shocking. Did they do this on purpose? I can overlook the CG, but why does the acting look like it’s from a children’s drama?
- CG isn’t even the main problem, the drama itself is a total mess.
- Just from the clips it looks fun though? Is it a rom-com?
- It feels like a children’s drama.
- I get that the CG is bad, but the soundtrack is awful too. And what is that acting?
Will No Tail To Tell be able to bounce back in the upcoming episodes? Stay tuned for updates.
