HYBE has sparked controversy after applying to restrict access to court records in its ongoing lawsuits with former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.

The company filed applications in two separate cases: the stock sale proceeds lawsuit and the lawsuit confirming termination of the shareholders’ agreement. The court partially granted HYBE’s request, limiting access to certain trial materials to only the parties involved.

The applications were reportedly filed on the grounds that the trial records contain trade secrets, including HYBE’s internal reports. Restricting access to sensitive documents is a common legal procedure to prevent third parties from viewing or copying information that could harm a company or involve confidential details.

HYBE first applied for restrictions on January 8 for the shareholders’ agreement termination lawsuit and followed up on January 12 with the stock sale proceeds lawsuit. This is not HYBE’s first attempt at limiting access. In June of last year, the company requested restricted access in a provisional injunction lawsuit related to voting rights, but that request was rejected.

While the court recognized “partial merit” in HYBE’s claims, the move has stirred speculation online. Netizens are questioning the timing and intentions behind restricting access to these court documents, suggesting HYBE may be trying to hide more than just trade secrets.
