Cha Eunwoo’s “You Quiz On The Block” Comment Resurfaces, Gets Fiercely Mocked Online

In 2024, ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo guested on You Quiz On The Block and, while his episode received a lot of positive feedback at the time, it has since resurfaced amid his massive tax evasion scandal and is getting fiercely mocked online.

At one point in the episode, show host Yoo Jae Suk asks Cha Eunwoo where he sees himself in ten years. Cha Eunwoo responds with great enthusiasm that he would like to become “an icon of this era.”

You know, I thought about this before. Athletes run toward things like first place, championships, and gold medals. So then I wondered… What are people in our field supposed to be running toward? End-of-year awards and things like that are obviously meaningful and something to be grateful for, and they do have value as work. But when you think about what’s truly ultimate…

And this is a bit embarrassing to say myself, but what came to mind for me was becoming an icon of this era. Someone people naturally think of when they think of this generation. I thought that would be really cool. Maybe I’m looking to become someone like you, sunbaenim.

The comment has aged poorly and K-Pop fans online have been especially brutal in mocking the troubled idol over it.
