Handsome K-Pop Star Reveals Shocking “Before” Photo From When He Was Overweight

In the latest episode of SBS‘s My Little Old Boy, MeloMance member Kim Minseok drew attention after revealing what he looked like when he was enlisted, a time when he reached the heaviest weight of his life.

When the show host Shin Dong Yup mentioned, “I’ve heard that you’re always on a diet,” the vocalist shared an anecdote from his military days about his weight-loss efforts after being unrecognizable.

In the military, they called out ‘trainee number 26!’ But when I answered, and they saw me, they were like, ‘Is that really MeloMance’s Kim Minseok?’

Looking at the revealed photo from his “Trainee Number 26” era, fellow show host Seo Jang Hoon asked, “Did the weight gain happen once you enlisted?” Kim Minseok said it happened when he let his guard down right before joining the military. He was around 212 pounds (96 kilograms) in the photo.

I ate a lot before enlisting because I thought I should eat well before going in, and that was when I hit my highest weight.

If anything, though, the pre-enlistment bulk-up had one upside: Shin Dong Yup joked after noticing Kim Minseok’s huge smile in the photo, “That’s a truly happy-looking face!”
