Introverted K-Pop Idol And Married Actress Reveal The Beginning Of Their Unexpected Friendship

Actress Gong Hyo Jin and former PENTAGON member-turned-soloist DAWN revealed their surprising connection in Gong Hyo Jin’s latest YouTube video.

During a visit to DAWN’s home, the actress recalled the first time she met the K-Pop star, about four years ago, at a BLACKPINK concert.

It was a BLACKPINK concert. There were so many artists there. I think it was the first time I was there with Kim Go Eun and Ryeo Won. We were surrounded by so many artists, and we were seeing them in real life for the first time. We were just so fascinated, too. Anyway, we were having a lot of fun, and that’s when we met.

The actress then added that DAWN reached out to her via Instagram after crossing paths at the concert.

Gong Hyo Jin: I think you sent me a DM afterward. I must have replied, right? I don’t know if you ever saw it, though.

DAWN: Yeah, I saw it.

DAWN explained that he was inspired to message her first because she was so kind to him—like a close noona he had known for a while—and he was grateful to have connected.

What was really funny was that after meeting you, I could tell what kind of person you were. I was kind of standing alone, not really fitting in, and you came over and talked to me first. I loved what you said—you spoke to me like an older sister who really knew me. I was so grateful that I sent you a DM, even though I thought, ‘She probably won’t read it.’
