NewJeans Vs. ILLIT’s Plagiarism Controversy Resurfaces Amid Min Hee Jin’s Lawsuit Win
Recently, former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin won a lawsuit against HYBE regarding a shareholder agreement. The court ruled that HYBE must pay ₩25.5 billion KRW (about $17.6 million USD) to Min Hee Jin.
With this, HYBE responded back, stating they would take legal action, including an appeal, regarding the verdict.

In regard to the plagiarism issue with ILLIT, the court stated, “BELIFT LAB failed to provide further evidence to support the claim that the two groups are not similar, and it’s difficult to say that the controversy has completely subsided.”
WIth this, online community posts about the ILLIT and NewJeans plagiarism controversy resurfaced.
Many felt that the overall concept, design, and choreography looked almost exactly the same.
K-Netizens felt that even non-K-Pop fans would be able to see a resemblance between the two groups.

Meanwhile, the court recently revealed that BELIFT LAB failed to provide evidence that it wasn’t plagiarism.
