Breakout “Undercover Miss Hong” Actor Says He Was Completely Naked When He Got Cast

Rising actor Cho Han Gyul, currently receiving tremendous attention for his role of Albert Oh in the K-Drama Undercover Miss Hong, shared a bizarre yet memorable casting story that stemmed from his striking looks and impressive physique.

In the latest episode of Hong Seok Cheon‘s “Treasure Box” YouTube show, Cho Han Gyul captivated the viewers with his story about being scouted in public. When show host Kim Ddol Ddol asked whether he had ever been approached for his number or cast on the street because of his handsome appearance, Cho Han Gyul recalled a unique experience at a sauna.

I really love saunas—I go about five or six times a week. One time, I was in the bath with a friend when I felt someone staring at me. The person was looking at me so openly that I wondered why. I went out to get dressed, and just as I was about to put on my clothes, a man said, ‘Excuse me.’

Cho Han Gyul continued, “He said he was from an entertainment company, so I told him I already have an agency. But at that moment… I was naked,” he added, sending everyone into laughter. The persistent gaze of a middle-aged man—from inside the bathhouse up until he was about to get dressed—ultimately led to a casting offer while he was still unclothed.

The unexpected “nude casting” may have been made possible by his standout physique. Cho Han Gyul revealed that he is 181 cm tall and said, “People expected me to be around 170 cm. My father fed me a lot, so I grew tall.” He also shared, “I was a baseball player from elementary school until the second year of high school,” explaining the foundation behind his athletic build!
