Stray KidsChangbin, a rapper from JYP Entertainment’s idol group Stray Kids, has been confirmed to have purchased an apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, entirely in cash for ₩9.40 billion KRW (about $6.32 million USD) in February last year.

The property is located in Building 11 of Hyundai Apartments (Phase 1 & 2), which falls under District 3 of the Apgujeong redevelopment zone. The area is undergoing plans for large-scale reconstruction into a complex of up to 65 floors, 30 buildings, and around 5,000 households.

According to court registry records, Changbin purchased a 198㎡ exclusive-use unit in February last year under his sole name. No mortgage was registered, suggesting that the full amount was paid in cash.A unit of the same size recorded a peak transaction price of ₩12.7 billion KRW (about $8.54 million USD) for a 7th-floor unit last year. This means Changbin bought the property at around ₩3.30 billion KRW (about $2.22 million USD) below the highest recorded price, and more than ₩1.00 billion KRW (about $672,000 USD) below current lowest asking prices.

An industry insider shared news about the house.

“It is known that he purchased a ‘royal unit’ in a ‘royal building’ with a panoramic Han River view. While urgent-sale units in Building 11 can be over ₩2.00 billion KRW (about $1.34 million USD) cheaper than peak prices, there is a significant price difference depending on the floor level. Although redevelopment will take time, it appears to be a forward-looking investment.”
