aespa’s G-Dragon Feature Hit With Boycotts From Angry Korean Fans
aespa have released “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” as a pre-release single ahead of their second studio album, dropping May 29.

The song has already drawn sharp criticism from international netizens, who have largely called it bland and disappointing. But even the group’s own Korean fans aren’t happy because of one specific reason.
aespa Fail To Impress As New Single Hit With Scathing Criticism
A chunk of the fanbase has taken issue with G-Dragon‘s feature, and they’re making that known in a pretty dramatic way.

Korean fans have been editing his parts out of the track and circulating the clipped versions online, essentially refusing to acknowledge his involvement.

Some have gone further, openly stating they won’t stream the song because of him. The move has visibly impacted “WDA” on Korean charts. International fans noticed the impact after “WDA” failed to debut above #63 on Melon’s main chart.
Kmys are already saying they won’t stream the song just because GD is on it, and honestly it’s so funny to watch. These are the same people who used to drag the girls over literally anything. I’m not even a fan, but even I saw all of that and couldn’t understand how fans can be…

Kmys better stop with this bullshit and stream on melon

Whether it holds or climbs further will seemingly depend entirely on how the general public receives it.
Kmys are boycotting. It is now up to the gp on if they like the song or not which we cannot control. What we CAN control is our streaming on the several platforms majority of us have access to! Get on Stationhead and worry about that!!!!!! https://t.co/FT7tGVhoMJ

the fact it even got into melon top 100 with the way these annoying ass entitled k-mys are acting because of this feature https://t.co/5W9HD5AzXg

The divide between Korean and international fans has been hard to ignore. International fans are frustrated, calling out the boycott as counterproductive.
don’t piss me off and stream bitch https://t.co/f1miVUQhvF

For a song already dealing with mixed reviews, the internal fanbase drama is the last thing aespa needed going into their album rollout.
