Recently, BABYMONSTER‘s Ahyeon faced criticism for her live vocals.
BABYMONSTER recently returned with “Choom,” ahead of other plans for their year, including a full album and tour.
While promoting, the group appeared on Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon‘s YouTube program, where the members were interviewed by the older star.
In the video, the group competed with Hyoyeon during a karaoke contest. At one point, the rules were determined by BABYMONSTER, who chose raise the key as they performed.
They sang songs including “Sheesh” and Girls’ Generation’s “The Boys,” the latter being the center of the discussion around Ahyeon’s vocals. Clips of the idol singing part of the song, including Taeyeon’s high note were reposted online, where netizens reacted.

Fans reminded that it was part of the game for her to change the notes, and that likely contributed to any off-key moments.
In response, many commented on her technique, stating that she sounded “unstable” and “shaky,” including describing her high note as “screaming.”
