Top Actor Facing 5th DUI Charge Caught Driving To Drinking Party With Suspended License
Actor Son Seung Won was recently caught driving without a license amid his latest DUI case.

Son Seung Won debuted as a musical actor in 2009 and made his K-Drama debut several years later, becoming known for his roles in Welcome to Waikiki and Hello, My Twenties!. His career took a sudden turn after multiple offenses.

After getting into a car accident while driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and fleeing the scene in 2018, Son Seung Won was charged with those crimes and driving without a license. During the investigation, it was reported that he had three previous DUI incidents, and he was sent to prison in 2019 for eighteen months.

Upon his release, his return to the industry was met with backlash, leading him to quietly step back into the spotlight.
According to JTBC’s “Newsroom,” Son’s trial for his fifth offense began May 13, facing charges of drunk driving and a hit-and-run causing injury. He was arrested for his fifth drunk driving offense last November. At the time, he had been drinking in Apgujeong, entering the vehicle at around 6 a.m and drove down the wrong side of the road for around 2 minutes.

After arriving at the police station, Son reportedly told his girlfriend to remove the car’s black box to conceal evidence. The JTBC report also claimed to have caught Son driving to a drinking party one week before the trial, despite not having an active driver’s license.

This was highlighted as Son submitted a letter of apology to the court that contained a promise to stop drinking and seek treatment. He also reportedly swore not to drive under the influencer or without an active license.
Prosecution is requesting a four-year prison sentence.
