In the video, Jeongyeon talked about her elder sister with pride and affection, and shared that back in 2020, when she had to pause her activities due to health issues, she relied heavily on Seungyeon for support. While the TWICE member was suffering mentally, her sister was the one who realized that something was off within her body and pushed her to get checked at a hospital.

Thanks to Seungyeon’s push, Jeongyeon was able to get diagnosed, and the doctors found that she had Cushing’s Syndrome. According to medical sources, this condition is caused by excessive cortisol in one’s body, and medications can be one of the reasons for someone to develop this syndrome. The most common symptoms of Cushing’s include, but are not limited to, weight gain, skin changes, fatigue, high blood pressure, and even diabetes.

Jeongyeon was able to get the proper treatment and regain her health, and she gave all the credit to her sister for holding her through this difficult period.

This revelation has stirred up major reactions among TWICE fans. While some were enraged that JYP Entertainment didn’t share this news with fans, others felt that fans were not entitled to such private medical information in the first place.

However, the majority of the fans were left devastated that Jeongyeon had to deal with such a difficult diagnosis while being constantly scrutinized and torn apart by the media and opinions on the internet. Many expressed their disappointment with JYP Entertainment for not being more proactive in protecting the idol from the unnecessary vitriol.
