LE SSERAFIM Sakura’s Actions Spark Backlash After Chaewon’s Hiatus Announcement
Recently, it was announced that LE SSERAFIM‘s Chaewon would be taking a break from activities.

In a statement posted on the group’s Weverse, Source Music shared that, per her medical team’s advice, she should “rest for a certain period and monitor her recovery.”

The injury was quickly connected to the group’s choreography for “Celebration,” where a head banging move is performed.
The injury was not sudden, as Chaewon mentioned neck pain before her announced break. A viral performance, during which the group displayed new choreography for the track, showed Chaewon holding her neck in pain.
glad they finally changed celebration’s headbanging choreo but looks like chaewon’s neck is still hurting.. i really hope she’s okay and taking care of herself :( pic.twitter.com/dB2dOZfOSs

Now, a previous clip has resurfaced following the announcement.
During a live stream in early May, Chaewon mentioned that her neck hurt, and was given a “shushing” motion by Sakura. Afterwards, Chaewon says her neck doesn’t hurt, and the members all react.
Initially there were thoughts that it may have been some sort of spoiler, but with the recent news, some believe the group were instructed not to talk about being in pain. While some have attempted to turn the criticism on Sakura, many have criticized the company for seemingly trying to prevent Chaewon from showing signs of her pain.
• chaewon wasn’t allowed to show her neck pain during weverse live
• still made her perform the headbanging choreo even after she showed signs of pain
• only changed the choreo once the pain got worse
• still made her perform at another festival while holding back the pain

“we place the highest priority on the health and safety of our artist” YOU LITERALLY DIDN’T ALLOW THEM TO SPEAK ABOUT THEIR NECK PAIN
