Girl Group Idols Get Dragged To Plastic Surgery Clinic Before Debut
Some members of a girl group were dragged to a plastic surgery clinic after a “visual” member joined the group, and they shared the bittersweet story on a variety show.
On the 25th, the three members of SeeYa, reunited to celebrate their 20th anniversary, appeared as guests on tvN STORY’s What’s the Point of Leaving It Behind.

During the broadcast, Lee Boram recalled the first time she met fellow member Nam Gyuri. “At first glance, wasn’t she as pretty as a doll? So I thought she would sing like a doll too, but I was surprised by her mid-to-low tone,” she said.
SeeYa originally planned to debut as an anonymous singing group, but those plans changed with Nam Gyuri’s addition.
Lee Boram said, “Before Gyuri joined, it was a tradition at the agency to debut as singers without showing their faces. We agreed to it. But when she came, suddenly we had to debut as singers with faces.”
She added, “As soon as I saw her, I thought she was so pretty I wondered, ‘What are we going to do?’ The company must have thought it wouldn’t work, so they even took us to a plastic surgery clinic.”

“We got a consultation, and the estimate was huge. But our debut was just three weeks away, so they said there was absolutely no time to recover,” she explained.
When Lee Young Ja asked, “How did you feel when you were an anonymous singer before Gyuri, but then they dragged you to a plastic surgery clinic after she arrived?” Lee Boram replied, “It was okay that they took us there, but I wished they had just done the surgery,” drawing laughs.
She lamented, “We were relieved to be anonymous singers. We didn’t manage our bodies or anything. We were just natural, and then they said our debut would be broadcast in three weeks. And on top of that, wasn’t Gyuri just too pretty?”
