Korean Singer Confesses To Getting Surgery To Stop Growing

She’s already taller than most.

Young trot singer Yoon Yoonseo has revealed that she recently underwent surgery to stop further growth as part of ongoing treatment related to injuries from a childhood accident.

The 12-year-old singer shared the update during a recent appearance on Miss Trot 4: Queen of Trot Chronicles. Yoon Yoonseo first captured attention on Miss Trot 4 not only for her singing abilities but also for her unusually tall height for her age. At the time, she was an elementary school student standing approximately 160 cm (5’3″).

She previously revealed that she was involved in a major traffic accident at the age of seven, which left her hospitalized for two months. As a result of the accident, one of her legs became slightly shorter than the other, creating a length difference of around 1–2 centimeters.

Because she was still growing, doctors reportedly informed her that ongoing treatment would be necessary to help correct the imbalance. During the broadcast, Yoon Yoonseo revealed that she underwent surgery two months ago.

“I had leg surgery recently. Two months ago, I underwent a procedure to close my growth plate.”

The surgery was reportedly performed to prevent further growth in one leg and help balance the difference in leg length caused by the accident. Fortunately, Yoon Yoonseo shared that her recovery has been progressing well.

“I’m working hard on rehabilitation now, and I can dance and run again.”

Fans praised the young singer for her positive attitude and perseverance despite years of treatment stemming from the childhood injury. Born in 2013, Yoon Yoonseo is currently a first-year middle school student and finished sixth place on Miss Trot 4.
