Donating to a good cause and supporting your bias? Sounds like a good plan to us!

SMile for U with SM Entertainment and UNICEF, which has done a lot of good over the last three years, particularly in their positive impact of music education in Vietnam. They plan to expand their reach to more regions from 2019 through 2022 and have been running a crowdfunding campaign to help them accomplish their goals.

The funds they receive will be used to support music education for 5,000 children, ages 5 through 14 years old, in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Contum in Vietnam. They will provide music instruments, train music teachers, and more!

The importance of art education, particularly music education, cannot be downplayed. Studies have shown that music education benefits students’ overall academic success, including improved test scores and math skills, but most importantly, improves self-esteem and confidence while also relieving stress. It’s also been shown that schools with music programs have a higher rate of graduates.

As with most crowdfunding campaigns, there are incentives to donate and SM Entertainment created rewards that are very unique and sure to entice fans into giving.

Working together with their artists BoA, TVXQ, SUPER JUNIOR, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT 127, and NCT Dream, they developed fragrance-based rewards including candles and “paper perfumes” (which is actually a filled portable atomizer with a paper mascot).

The reward tiers are as follows:

■ ₩13,500 (roughly $11.27 USD), 1 paper perfume
■ ₩33,000 (roughly $27.54 USD), 1 candle
■ ₩43,000 (roughly $35.89 USD), 1 candle + 1 paper perfume
■ ₩50,000 (roughly $41.73 USD), 1 candle + 2 paper perfume
