Unfaithful Actor Changes Plea To Guilty, Receives Sentence

He changed his plea.

Last summer, Malaysian actress Bella Astillah and Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz divorced for the second time after a string of scandals made headlines. The couple previously divorced in 2019 due to Aziz’s alleged infidelity after he was spotted with several women.

At a press conference in April, Astillah claimed Aziz cheated on her with 11 women, including one of her own family members. Although Aziz did not go into specifics, he did confess to being unfaithful to Astillah.

Aziz said that he cheated on Astillah due to a lack of self-control and because his “soul felt empty.”

I couldn’t control myself. That was a mistake. (This) mistake isn’t something to be proud of. It made me very stressed and embarrassed.

One of the women Aziz allegedly cheated on Astillah with was Ruhainies, a Malaysian actress. Aziz and Ruhainies made headlines in early 2024 after being detained by Malaysia’s religious authorities. The pair were suspected of committing khalwat (a man and woman–who are not married to each other or related–being alone together in a secluded place).

On February 21, Aziz and Ruhainies changed their initial plea–not guilty–at Malaysia’s Syariah High Court of the Federal Territory. Both pleaded guilty to the charge of khalwat. According to their lawyer, Aziz and Ruhainies were both fined and face jail time if the fine isn’t paid.

After the charge was read again, both changed their plea to guilty. Based on their plea, the Syariah High Court judge found them guilty and imposed a fine of RM3,000 ($677 USD) or three months in jail if the fine is not paid.
