It’s the end of an era for a legendary boy group and their devoted fans. After 26 years, the group has announced their disbandment.

Arashi‘s announcement comes after a four-and-a-half-year hiatus. The group will return one more time for a special concert tour next spring to thank fans for many years of love and support.

Now, fans are preparing to give Arashi a beautiful sendoff. They’re also preparing for battle. Although ticket sales for top groups are always chaotic, the stakes will be higher than ever for Arashi’s final shows. There’s also another obstacle to navigate: travel, and not just for fans who are planning to attend the shows.

Warnings have reportedly begun to circulate online that it’s best to avoid traveling to Japan during the tour. The tour will likely affect everything from hotel availability to travel congestion. In fact, back in 2015, one of Arashi’s concerts in the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan caused an academic conference to be postponed, due to concerns about traffic and accommodations.

According to Korean media, some Korean netizens who previously traveled to see Arashi warned the public to book hotels (for non-Arashi trips and events) before the tour schedule comes out. One recalled almost missing their flight because of Arashi.

I once visited Sapporo during Arashi’s concert schedule and almost missed my flight while waiting for the airport bus. It’s better not to travel during the concert period. Even if you are lucky enough to find a hotel, the entire city is covered in Arashi-related events, making it hard to have a proper trip.

Unfortunately, Arashi isn’t the only veteran group that is disbanding soon.
