But things changed in July 2022, when So Ching’s boyfriend Mo, a backup dancer for her labelmate MIRROR, was hit with a giant LED screen that fell from the roof of the venue while he was performing on stage at MIRROR’s concert.

So Ching immediately went on a hiatus, and although she briefly returned about half a year after the incident, she officially withdrew from the group in May 2023.

Since then, she’s been taking care of her boyfriend, as he is still mostly paralyzed from the incident. Although she’s known to have gone back to her original job of being a dance teacher, she’s stayed out of the limelight for the most part.

So, when she posted a vlog on her YouTube channel about her recent daily life, her fans were ecstatic.

She even guested on another YouTube channel, where the hosts asked her how she dealt with her boyfriend’s freak accident.

I believe most people saw you on television previously. You gave off a very positive, optimistic vibe, but, as everyone knows, something big happened. No one wanted to see that happen. But recently, you’ve been posting videos on YouTube, and everyone sees your happy and outgoing personality again. So I want to ask, how did you get past this period of time?

To which So Ching responded,

It really is mainly because of time. It’s cliché, but time heals all wounds. I didn’t believe it in the past, but the saying really applies to this.

The hosts also asked So Ching how she handled comments coming from netizens.

To be honest, I never read them, unless they were unavoidable. I didn’t have notifications on, so if it wasn’t necessary, I didn’t read the comments. I would get triggered by the comments, whether good or bad, but I wanted to be emotionally stable. Moreover, it’s not like I personally knew the commenters, and they didn’t know me either. Now, I think I still carry certain emotions [stemmed from the incident], but most of the comments don’t affect me anymore because my focus has changed. I’ve found the path I want to walk down on, so even if someone has something to say, as long as I know what I’m chasing after, it’s fine.

When the host asked whether the past two years felt like a dream, So Ching talked about how she’s changed as a person during this time.

I think it being like a dream is on point. The most significant change is that I’ve slowed down. I used to be very impatient and didn’t think before I acted. During the second half of last year, I discovered how to live my life at the right pace. After that, I understood how to live life better. It was a fast learning experience. I don’t think I can waste time anymore. If I like doing something, then I should spend more time to get better at it. I was really short-sighted in the past, but now I see things for the longer term.
