She spotted a 24-year-old man, who lives in the same neighborhood, hiding under her bed. He immediately fled the scene and the woman called her apartment building’s property management company. The company, in turn, called the police.

Just after midnight, police found the man near the woman’s apartment building and arrested him on suspicion of trespassing. Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported that the man did not tell police why he had entered the woman’s apartment, but the question of “how” has been answered. The woman had left her front door unlocked before going to work that day.

The moral of this story? Always lock your doors, check for monsters under the bed…and don’t trespass.
