Upcoming Gay Romance Series Cancelled Due To Intense Backlash
The production company behind a new GL (Girls’ Love) romance series has officially pulled the plug, just days after the show’s first trailer dropped.

On August 5, Yes Please Production announced Just Nearby The Series’s cancellation following intense criticism. This Thai GL series would have followed the blossoming romance between an introverted university student and the outgoing daughter of a family-run soy milk shop.

Although the series initially received positive feedback, that reportedly began to change after netizens began drawing parallels between this GL series and the Boys’ Love (BL) series Your Sky. Some critics felt that the similarities between the plot, characters, scenes, names, and dialogue were a little too similar, resulting in plagiarism allegations.

After denying the plagiarism allegations on August 4, stating that any similarities were coincidental, Yes Please Production officially announced the cancellation the next day.
We would like to thank everyone who supported the project and shared their feedback. While this was a passion project by emerging creators, we recognise the impact that this situation has had and have decided to discontinue the series.
