Pissed Off Married Couple Becomes Robbers’ Worst Nightmare
A pair of burglars took a calculated risk — and found out that they are really bad at math. Security cameras captured their robbery and all the chaos that followed.
At around 2 a.m. on May 16, the 63-year-old owner of a pawnshop in Kumagaya, Japan heard noises coming from downstairs. At first, he blamed his and his wife’s cats, assuming that they were having a late-night fight. When he went to investigate, however, the man found two robbers–cat burglars?–instead.
The men had forced their way inside by raising the shop’s protective metal shutter and shattering the glass door behind it with a crowbar. Unfortunately for them, that crowbar wouldn’t save them from the fury their break-in would unleash. In dangerous situations, some people choose flight over fight. The owner? He’s not one of those people.

With a golf club in hand, the owner chased the thieves out of the store. He gave the robbers–and the windshield of their getaway car–a beatdown. “I started hitting the windshield so it would crack and they wouldn’t be able to see out of it,” he said. “I also squared off against the guy with the crowbar.”
The robbers, now trapped inside their battered car, tried to take off, but they weren’t quick enough. They also made the mistake of leaving their windows open. Suddenly, the owner’s wife appeared with a can of insecticide and gassed them with it.
Naturally, the robbers closed the window to save themselves, but that didn’t stop the attack. “Let me have the can,” the owner said. He then proceeded to spray more insecticide through the cracks he had made in the windshield.
Eventually, the thieves had no choice; they had to abandon their loot, ditch their car, and run for their lives.
Although the owner wasn’t injured by the robbers, he did step on glass while battling them. According to doctors, his wounds will take approximately two weeks to heal. As for the robbers, one–a 69-year-old man–has been caught. The other, his 50-something-year-old accomplice, is still at large…and hiding from the ticked-off couple?
