Reportedly, on August 20, Japan’s Narcotics Control Department raided Yonekura’s apartment in Tokyo, discovering many substances and usage tools that violate the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act. Two days after the raid on her home, Yonekura allegedly flew to Europe for a vacation, traveling to places including London for about two weeks.
Upon her return, she unexpectedly canceled her scheduled appearances, including an awards show appearance, leading to speculation about her health.

Ryoko Yonekura began her career as a model in the nineties before transitioning to acting, becoming most known for her role as the title character in Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon, in addition to dubbing characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She also became more well-known to international audiences through her role in the Netflix series The Journalist

Neither she nor her team has responded to requests for comments from Shukan Bunshun.
